A Word From Kyung Hee Kelly Lee LPC

Strong.Spiritual.Korean.
My name is Kyung Hee "Kelly" Lee LPC Associate, but most of my friends, family, and clients call me "Kelly". (You may call me Kyung Hee if you prefer!) I have a special place in my heart for the Korean and Korean-American communities but please know that I also see clients from all ethnic walks of life. I see men, women and older adolescents with a special focus on the women and their children, but regardless of the road you've travelled I'd be honored to have the opportunity to see you.
I was born in S. Korea and lived there until I finished my undergrad degree in Science Education and married my husband. He was invited to pastor a church in Florida so we moved to America where I would eventually finish my advanced degree in Science and Biblical Counseling at the Dallas Theological Seminary.
My Kids Are My Focus
We have two children. My son is well into his college days at Rice University. My daughter is currently in elementary school so I'm re-learning how to parent all over again and focus my attention and family-time on her.
My Transition to Counselor
As a pastor's wife for 20 years, people came to me with their problems, their relationships, their work, and I listened. I didn't know how to help them, so I felt in the corner of my heart that this was not enough. I would pray for them, but I felt that I needed to do more to help in a more tangible and immediate way. Prayer is a powerful tool, but I wanted a more practical way to help them.
A few years ago we moved to Dallas to plant our own church which proved more difficult in the Korean community than we had anticipated. With God's grace and my family's full support and urging I've made the transition to full-time, fully credentialed counselor. I am so thrilled to now be able to "do more" for people that need help, especially my Korean and Korean-American communities!
It's Not Easy
Having marital problems, or boundary concerns with your parents? Or maybe we need to work on communication skills between you and your spouse? Children always seem to suffer the most in those situations and it may be a good idea to let them talk, too. If you've recently immigrated from Korea, getting used to the American culture and reconnecting with a new network of people that gives your life a real purpose can be overwhelming. I think I can help you with that, too. Because of my background in the church as a pastor's wife, my service for ministers and their families is especially close to my heart.
So, whether you prefer to speak Korean or English during our time together I am happy to accommodate so you feel comfortable. I grew up in the S. Korean culture and I've spent the last 12 years learning the American way of doing things, so we can be very comfortable together no matter your background.
We Can Do This Together
I'm Kyung Hee "Kelly" Lee LPC Associate. II counsel from a position of weakness. I am imperfect and have my own fears but I depend totally upon God for strength and the wisdom to do this. I believe this is what he wants me to do.
And I think the three of us will do very well together. Give me a call.
