A Product of San Antonio
I'm Donna Dilley, LPC-Associate and I was born and raised in San Antonio. My parents were very hardworking middle-class Hispanics who taught us responsibility and love for others. Growing up, my sisters and I learned many character-building skills (like painting, building wood-decks, yard work, etc.) as our parents bought, rehabbed, and sold homes to afford us better opportunities.
Travel Adventures
After graduating from the University of Texas at San Antionio, I moved to Dallas to work in the telecommunications industry. As a sales executive, I was blessed with the adventure to travel all over the world and even lived in Chicago for a number of years while completing my MBA at Loyola. Eventually, when I moved back to Texas, I met my husband of 26 years, gained two stepsons, and started a family of our own with a daughter and son. Together we made the decision that I would become a stay-at-home mom, give up the career, all the while gaining the rewards and challenges that come from raising a family.
For summer fun, I would drive a 35-foot RV while towing a car, so we could explore the national parks and historic sites. My husband would fly to the various destinations to meet us, and we all had fun learning. These travel adventures created memories to last a lifetime.
Continuing to Grow
As our children started college, and after I had worked in the healing and deliverance ministry for ten years, I felt the Lord telling me, “I want you to go back to school and get a counseling degree.” I was resistant at first, but knew this was a special calling he put on my heart. I knew the Lord wanted to use me to help His beautiful children have hope. In my experience, I have come to know Jesus is the answer to everything, and I’m here to help you navigate the deep waters of life through HIM!
Unseen Spiritual Realm Affects Us
I believe we function best when we have balance in our mind, body, and spirit. Too often we ignore how closely these three aspects of life are tied together, and many times, we tend to ignore the spiritual realm and how it impacts us. Life is not easy, and sometimes there is a lot going on that we cannot see. Just like you cannot see the wind, but can feel it blowing on you - so it is in the spiritual realm. It exists and impacts us on a daily basis.
As a Christian, I believe we are in a spiritual battle and what we are not aware of can hurt us. Sometimes we unintentionally, or unknowingly open doors that give the enemy permission to wreak havoc on us. However, the good news is we can break these chains with Jesus’ help, and I believe all things are possible with God. Life isn’t about our mistakes (because none of us are perfect), but we have a very big and victorious God who has already won the battle. I would like to collaborate with you on your journey to healing, to know this truth.
My Hope For You
I hope you know how beautiful and precious you are in God’s eyes! I want to encourage you to believe that things can work themselves out no matter how difficult they seem right now. If you need someone to listen and help you work through your pain, I'm here for you. There will be work, but as a team we can get there with the help of Jesus!
