A Word From Terah Culp LPC-S

Spiritual. Experience. Wisdom.

Hi, I'm Terah Culp LPC-S. I've been a fully licensed counselor since 2016, and I also supervise new counselors. I am a native Texan and I have lived and worked in North Dallas since 1997.

Why I am a Professional Counselor

I was a teacher in the Plano School district for many years and taught chemistry and biology. I have always had a passion for providing care to others including my students, older relatives, cousins with health issues and most importantly my special needs son.

My special needs son was born prematurely so I had to quit teaching and become a hands-on, practical caregiver as he grew up. As an adult he still has difficulties such as an inability to speak, take care of himself or hold a job. He has grown into a loving person, and I'm very proud of him.

Once my son was in middle school, I decided to pursue a master’s degree at Dallas Theological Seminary in counseling. This degree provided both a clinical and a strong theological basis for counseling. I have worked at Jewish Family Service of Dallas (JFS) from the early days of my practicum until today.

Most of my work at JFS has been focused on trauma, family violence, childhood trauma and abuse, grief, and complex relational trauma. My experience includes individual, family, and group counseling.

I also worked as a volunteer chaplain at Medical Center for Plano (now Medical City). I was on call for emergencies, trauma cases, and other urgent needs for counseling and prayer support.

Are We a Good Fit?

My heart is for people who are suffering. I am a relational therapist who believes that we are created by a relational God; therefore, we are wired to be in relationship. My clinical approach focusses on building a foundation of secure attachments in relationships.

I am highly focused on families, and those who have experienced family violence, domestic violence, and abuse. I also enjoy working with children 8 and up to address anxiety, stress, ADHD and other challenges facing children today. I have extensive experience working with adults, families, children, couples, and premarital counseling.

What Should You Expect?

At Life Tree, I want to be able to slow down the pace a bit and deepen relationships with my clients. I'm going to help you think and process what's happening in your life.

As we work together you can expect that we will assess all aspects of the body which include physical, mental, and spiritual needs. If you are willing to explore these areas of your life and willing to bring accountability and action to the table, I am confident you will have movement and success in making significant changes in your life.

You ready for that? Call me and let's see what we can learn from each other.
