Compassion. Family. Persistence.

Hi, I'm Shawn Reed and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and I like to help people. I've lived most of my life in the North Texas area, worked my way through school at University of Oklahoma, met my husband there and started our family in this area. I've seen some changes!

Foster Care And Family

After graduation I took a job working for the Denton County Foster Care organization. That quickly led to us taking in two foster boys, both of whom we adopted and are still with us almost 20 years later.

I spent 15 years with the Foster Care Org, counseling and training new foster care parents along the way, helping the kids to adjust, and mentoring others as they adopted just as we had done. It really is a marvelous feeling to help those kids and help other people that want to be a part of their lives as well.

Going Solo For Awhile

Eventually I opened and operated my own solo-practice in Frisco for about 12 years. But things change and there is wisdom in numbers so from there it was just a hop, skip and a jump before landing here at Life Tree Counseling, also in Frisco. Kathleen and her operation came very highly recommended.

I like working with a range of people with a range of issues, but if you were to ask me where my sweet-spot is I'd have to tell you that helping families realize their potential as a functioning unit is what I spend most of my time thinking about. Parents, foster parents, adoptive parents, kids, foster kids, adopted kids; the people involved in that group by any name!

How Might I Help You?

Just like you I've been blessed with the highs in life that make it well worth the effort, and suffered through terrifying lows during which I thought I was going to lose it all, and made me question everything. My job is to work through your challenges with you and help you learn to process the things that are happening to you so you can more effectively deal with those issues.

Pick up the phone and call me at 972-234-6634 x102 or schedule some time on the calendar below and let's see what we can do together.

I’m not telling you it’s going to be easy.

I’m telling you it’s going to be worth it!
